Totenkopfschwärmer

Dieser Nachtfalter galt lange Zeit als unheilbringend. Im berühmten Film „Das Schweigen der Lämmer” wurde er z.B. als Symbol des Bösen inszeniert. Er dringt in Bienenstöcke ein um an den Honig zu gelangen und ist in der Lage, pfeifende Geräusche zu erzeugen. Sein Verbreitungsgebiet sind die Tropen Afrikas. Er ist aber auch in Europa heimisch.
 

The death's head hawkmoth was considered to be omnious for a long time. In the famous movie „The silence of the lambs” it was stillised as a symbol of evil. It enters beehives to get some honey as a source of food and is able to generate whistling noises. 

This moth is located in the African tropics as well as in european regions.
